Health and Beauty
The body is a temple, a holy place for all beings to enter and exit from. It holds the highest value among other forms of our body which is why it has been worshipped from ancient times till the present to make people healthy, strong, beautiful, energetic, rich in knowledge and wisdom as well as the power to give birth to children. In the book of Ephesians chapter 11 verse 2 we are told that the body is made up of five parts; the head, the hands, and the feet, the rest being the spirit. The spirit, the mind, and the body combine to form one. This unity between the human body and the spirit is called oneness.
There are many definitions in the Bible of how the body works and functions but none can be found in one comprehensive book. But three things come out clearly in the bible about the relationship of our bodies with God and ourselves. These are 1) That all which we do comes from the heart and not from the brain, thus our actions are always led by the Spirit; 2) Our physical appearance is determined by God’s design and not by man’s efforts; 3) All that we do in life is done for the sake of God, and what may seem bad to others may be good to us. And these are only a few of the points which were pointed out by Apostle Paul and Romans chapter 6 verse 17 in his letter to The Corinthians. But some questions remain unanswered about the connection of the Body with the Holy Spirit.
Do They Work Together?
The scripture answers this question by telling us that the Spirit is working together with the body. (1Corinthians 13v-20). If this is so, then what does this mean for health? Does he mean that if the heart and the body work together as they should there are no diseases like diabetes, cancer, or obesity? It means that it is not that you need to eat right or exercise to stay healthy. What this translates to here is that while the heart and the body are doing their job the Spirit is supporting them which means that there is a mutual relationship between the two. When God calls the body to do a certain task, the Spirit helps the body get through to the goal. “So let us see now that as God’s servants, we ought also to follow him” (2 Kings 7:16, emphasis added).
What Should We Do To Stay Healthy?
The next point you need to understand is that it doesn’t matter what we eat but how much we eat is important. So let us focus on the fact of eating the right food that is good for us and not the wrong foods that have very little nutritional content which would lead to diseases. A diet that is full of fruits and vegetables, whole grains, fish, etc. is good as long as there is proper portion control. But even though it is important to balance your diet it is even more important to find time to drink enough water during the day. Water is essential for any living organism. Too much alcohol consumption could lead to liver damage, kidney stones, and weight gain. Consume high amounts of sugar in excess to avoid such problems. Use sunscreen when outdoors or wear sunglasses to protect your eyes from harmful UV rays. Never smoke, and never drink too much coffee, tea, or soft drinks because they contain caffeine, which causes mental fatigue and insomnia making sleep elusive; take care of one’s teeth since they are important for good oral hygiene, as well as taking regular walks to maintain blood circulation, regular massage, etc. Practice yoga or stretching regularly to keep muscles fit and strong. Read books if you want to learn new things and grow spiritually.
